Aurora: A Spring Collection of Harlem Artists

A group exhibition of works on paper featuring artHARLEM artists

The exhibition will be on view March 1 - 6, 2010. 12PM to 4PM

Opening reception: Tuesday, March 2nd 6 - 8pm

In celebration of New York City's unparalleled artistic communities, The Armory Show is highlighting a neighborhood or borough's arts scene each night of Armory Arts Week with events for all visitors. This exhibition is curated by Artharlem.

When selecting a title and theme for this exhibition back in December, I never imagined that we would be digging ourselves out of record breaking snowfalls along the east coast and longing for spring and sunshine. Several blizzards and storms later, just the mere thought of anything that approximates a brilliant sunrise makes me smile. AURORA and everything about it sounds especially warm and inviting. Imagine rosy hues across the morning sky. Envision rays of light that make you reach for your sunglasses before heading out the door. Think AURORA and the featured artists whose work remind me of sunrises and warm sun filled days.

AURORA is a spring collection of Harlem Artists features the works of Evi Abeler, Ellen Hackl Fagan, Leah Heller, Norma Marquez Orozco and Elizabeth Valentin.

In addition to the exhibition, the artists will also open their studios on Tuesday, March 2nd as part of artHARLEM's participation in Armory Arts Week 2010. For opening hours and directions to the artist studios, please contact Casa Frela Gallery at 212 - 722 - 8577.
