Winner of the 2008 Create Your Style Swarovski Design Award, David Mandel has been creating jewelry his entire life. By the 1980’s, David had attended both the Traphagen School of Fashion and The Art Students League of New York. During his apprenticeship at Lawrence Vrba, and encouraged with advice from friend and colleague Robert Sorrell, David embarked on his solo career, creating a jewelry company called “The Show Must Go On” (TSMGO). David has collaborated with clothing designers Betsy Johnson, Chad Evans, and Marc Bouwer and has created one-of-kind pieces for celebrities Fran Drescher, Taylor Swift, Cate Blanchette, Darlene Love, and Drag Super Star Lady Bunny. He has created jewelry for the film To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Love Julie Newmar, and for Broadway‘s Tale of Two Cities, Ridiculous Theatrical Company, and Broadway Bares. In addition to winning the 2008 Swarovski Design Award, he was runner-up in 2007. David has donated innumerable pieces of his jewelry to many charity organizations and auctions over the past two decades. David is known for his oversized theatrical creations, which he often presents in signed handcrafted limited-editions. His objects d'art capture the flora (orchids, lilies) and fauna (dragonflies and toads) of nature and the forms of fantasy and imagination. David’s medium is anything and everything that glitters, sparkles and shines. He has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, WMAG, Elle and Modern Bride. TSMGO jewelry is sold in New York, Paris, London, Brussels, Vienna and Australia.
