Shopping Admin

Currently there are three places where users can click a button that will take them to the Casa Frela PayPal account to make a payment:
  • The Donate page
  • The HAWT registration pages for each year
  • FunPacks shopping page

This page has some notes on how the last one was set up - Fun Packs:
  • The following has been set up on the site:
    • FunPacks - has 3 "Buy Now" buttons for 1, 5 and 10 fun packs
      • This page can only be viewed by Admins while it is being developed
    • FunPackThanks - the thank you page that customers are returned to after completing their purchase on PayPal
      • This page must be accessed with this url: FunPackThanks?thanks=1 or it will redirect to the HomPage
    • FunPackCancel - thepage that customers are returned to if they cancel out of their purchase on PayPal
      • This page must be accessed with this url: FunPackCancel?cancel=1 or it will redirect to the HomPage

  • The following has been set up within PayPal:
    • The 3 "Buy Now" buttons to purchase 1, 5 or 10 fun packs have been saved on PayPal
      • The product code is FP and price is set for a single fun pack - only the quantity is different between the three buttons
      • The urls for the pages customers are returned to after completing or canceling their purchases (mentioned above) are set up for each saved button
      • PayPal has a feature that allows tracking profits on sales so an amount has been set up for this
      • PayPal can also track inventory, but this has not been set up
    • Online sales tax for customers in NY is computed automatically in PayPal
      • PayPal has a feature that allows a tax rate to be set up by state. The law is to charge sales tax to customers in the same state as where the seller has a presence - so NY in our case. The rate is 8.875%. Customers in other states are responsible for paying the tax as a "use tax" on their own tax returns
    • Shipping has also been set up in PayPal so that it is calculated automatically
      • Shipping costs are based on quantity
      • PayPal allows for the use of weight or dollar amount to determine shipping as well
      • It appears that whatever is set up in shipping applies to all products
      • A shopping cart is not being used at this stage because shipping costs for every potential choice of quantity is not yet known
