Timothy Szlyk has been creating jewelry for nearly a quarter of a century and his fascination with jewelry has been with him all his life, from a child’s treasure chest to his collection today. Tim holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry and Art History from Bates College and trained at the Portland School of Art in Gold and Silversmith. Tim has worked with various jewelry companies, including Camro-Rosecraft, Sir Richard-Nu-Style, Felicity, Tiara Enterprise and his own company, Thorin & Co. During the mid 90’s, Tim developed the high-end “Marie Ferra” jewelry line which was distributed by Topper & Lowell and Fragments, and carried by esteemed stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Barneys NY, Nieman Marcus, Macy’s and Jacobson Stores. Tim’s jewelry has been featured Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Town & Country and The New York Times. Tim has created many diverse jewelry lines, from mass produced pieces to exceptional one-of-a-kind museum pieces and simple items, such as earrings, pins, broaches, necklaces to crowns and tiaras for pageants and Mardi Gras. In June 2008, Tim concentrated his focus exclusively on Thorin & Co. which produces moderate and high-end, signed, numbered, limited edition and one-of-a-kind specialty pieces. Tim focuses on design quality and materials, creating special pieces which are unique in the world. Although Tim loves the one-of-a-kind specialty pieces, he created an open line of signed and numbered jewelry pieces which he offers to retailers. Tim’s collections are shown by appointment only and can also be viewed on Thorin & Co’s facebook page.
