Walter Miller Casa Frela Gallery invites the community to “Grow With Us”. Join Gallery staff in prepping the Walter Miller III Memorial Garden for plantings and art on Saturday, March 16th, 2013, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the garden on 13 West 119th Street.

Refreshments will be served while we all “dig in” to begin to transform the strip of land entrusted to Founder and Director of Casa Frela Gallery Lawrence Rodriguez, by Green Thumb, into a beautiful Sculpture Garden for the community to enjoy.

Help us build from the ground up while working side-by-side with our neighbors, as we all bring life and art to the garden, which will honor great friend and neighbor, Walter Miller III. Mr. Miller was one of the Founders of the 119th Street Block Association and a 30-year veteran of the New York City Police Force. His love and life-long dedication to 119th Street and the Harlem community will always be remembered as his legacy lives on.

Saturday, March 16th will be the community kick-off date for working – and playing — with us in the garden. Weather permitting, please join us each Saturday after that, to prepare the garden for its July 2013 dedication to Walter Miller III. Neighbors, business and friends have donated funds and effort, and The City of New York has issued a grant to get the project started. The family of Walter Miller III will be donating the plaque.
